Voortrekker Monument - This 40m cube shaped granite structure commemorates the Voortrekkers who braved the interior in their trek north to escape the brtish rule in 1834. In the basement area is a cenotaph of polished granite with the inscription, "Ons vir jou Suid Afrika" so positioned that at exactly 12 noon on the 16th of December every year, a ray of sunlight from the roof centers on it.
